A graduate from Brigham Young University in Illustration, I am an experienced graphic designer and illustrator. I have successfully produced many catalogs, brochures, fliers, ad campaigns, books, email blasts, product packaging and more. I work well with others or independantly, love a challenge and am very adaptable. I would love to pass my enthusiasm and experience on to your project.
As an illustrator, I have two general styles. One style is painting realistically with oil paint on canvas or digitally. I have done commissioned work for people's pets and family members. I also enjoy using my skill to draw animals and turn them into characters. I have illustrated childrens books, coloring books and t-shirts in both styles. See some of my character drawings on my illustration page.
Though my degree was illustration, much of my time is spent doing graphic design. Starting out I would use my drawing skills to illustrate children's t-shirts with a company called Del Sol. This evolved into being both the illustrator and graphic designer. I became experienced in designing all their printed materials, such as catalogs, newsletters, brochures, signage and more. It also became necessary to become involved in photography, photo shots, photo manipulation and product photography.
Since then, my career has lead me to wear many hats, acting as a graphic designer, product designer, photographer, marketer, web designer and art director. For more than 15 years I worked in-house, specializing in developing products for Wal Mart, Best Buy, Staples, Office Max, TJ Maxx, Auto Zone and other major retailers. I designed product packaging, packaging guidelines, POP displays, labels, sales sheets, trade show booths, signage and other marketing materials.
Nowadays I work purely as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. I enjoy helping new companies get established and develop their brand or product. Being a freelancer allows me to develop my other passion; animals. I have always loved to paint and draw them, but I also enjoy animal health and training. I went back to school and got a degree in the veterinary field. I am now a certified veterinary technician and when I am not designing, I am a relief technician at local animal hospitals. Being involved with the veterinary industry gives me more opportunity to design labels, packaging and literature focused on animal care, nutrition and products.
